Juventus To Italian Cup Final
TURIN, Italy: Juventus advanced to the Italian Cup final after a goalless draw with Inter Milan in a rematch that gave them a 2-1 aggregate victory.
Andrea Pirlo’s squad will face Napoli or Atalanta, who are tied 0-0 ahead of the second leg at Bergamo, in the May final in Rome.
Inter did not much test veteran Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon despite featuring Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi, while Cristiano Ronaldo was twice denied by goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.
Juve have not lost since their 2-0 defeat to Inter in Serie A last month.
They have only conceded once since the defeat, in the first match at the San Siro last week.
Juve are currently seven points behind Serie A leaders AC Milan, and play less than one game and will travel to Napoli this Saturday.
“The feeling of being a coach is very different, we are very happy but we have not done anything yet.
“We are very good today, they did not have an accurate attempt. Handanovic is the best player on the field,” said Pirlo.
Antonio Conte, who guided Pirlo to three Serie A titles, now needs to find a formula to ensure Inter win their first trophy since 2011.
Inter are in second place just two points behind rivals Milan, and will face Lazio this Sunday, while Milan travel to Spezia.
